The Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force (SACMCTF) was established in 2010, created by the merger of the Southern Alameda County Narcotic Enforcement Team (SACNET) and the Southern Alameda County Gang Violence Suppression Task Force (SACGVSTF). The merger reflected the expanding responsibilities of the task force and the force multiplying efforts of participating law enforcement agencies.

SACMCTF is governed by a Coordination Committee consisting of executive management from each of the participating agencies. SACMCTF consists of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies whose focus is to investigate major violent crimes with an emphasis on gang and drug crimes.  SACMCTF proactively works to mitigate gun violence by identifying and apprehending offenders who engage in crimes using firearms. SACMCTF operates throughout the Bay Area with a focus on the Southern Alameda County region.  The Task Force is hosted and located within the Fremont Police Department.

The Major Crimes Task Force Unit is comprised of one Sergeant and six detectives from the following agencies:

  • Alameda County Probation Department
  • Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives
  • California Highway Patrol
  • Fremont Police Department
  • Newark Police Department
